Lake Koman is a flooded river gorge, and the ferry from Koman to Fierzë winds for about 2.5–3 hours between sheer green walls. It's often called one of the most beautiful boat journeys in Europe.

Most people use it as part of a classic loop: Shkodër → Koman ferry → Valbona → hike over the pass to Theth → back to Shkodër.

Don't miss in Lake Koman Ferry

  • The narrowest part of the gorge, a couple of hours in
  • Combining the ferry with the Valbona to Theth hike
  • Small farms only reachable by water along the way

How to get to Lake Koman Ferry

  • Shared minibuses leave Shkodër around 6:30 for Koman, about 2 hours, timed to meet the morning ferry.
  • At Fierzë, minibuses wait to take passengers on to Valbona.

Watch out for

  • Schedules and operators change each season. Book through your Shkodër guesthouse or hostel the night before.
  • You can bring a car on some boats, but space is very limited and must be reserved.
  • The road to Koman is narrow and winding; it's easier to let someone else drive.
